10 Gifts to Get Your Destiny Seeker Fan via wit and travesty

Hello writers & readers!

I’ve got a fun post for you today. With the holidays and future birthdays approaching, it’s time for you to think of gift ideas for that special person in your life who loves Destiny Seeker: The Messenger.

I mean, let’s face it: there’s a ton of gifts out there for the Potterhead, LotR fan, or your Star Wars fanatic. But what about those Destiny Seekers?? I literally just made that up—let’s make it a thing! #destinyseekers

Look no further than this gift list. Those close to me consider me one of the best gifters around, and I take this responsibility very seriously. Below are some specific gifts you can find online. These are not affiliate links. I just genuinely like the products or the small shops that I’m recommending. I’d love to be sponsored but this is all out of love and there’s no actual pressure to buy these items.

With that officially out of the way, if you or someone you know is a fan of my book—or soon will be—these are the top suggestions to satisfy even the most popular Bookstagrammer.

Electric Handwarmers/Gloves

Electric heated gloves are a sure-fire way to feel like a Fire Weaver, especially if your office feels like Dove; a place of eternal winter. You can find lots of options via Amazon that will allow your DS fan to drive, function at work, go for long walks in the woods, or write their next thrilling novel.

A Persist & Resist tee

This book is a pretty feminist story written by a pretty feminist. If your DS fan loves this book, they’re likely passionate about fighting for what’s right. You know, typical warrior stuff. I have a soft spot for the tees by wildpublic which is why I think this tee will fit right in with the premise of my novel and the DS fan’s next flatlay design.

A Journal

Journaling finds its way into Destiny Seeker quite frequently. Ilsi learns a lot about herself by reading her mother’s journal entries, for example. Later, Ilsi uses the same journal to learn more about herself and help her process a lot of the things that happen to her in the novel. This journal by KitCronkStudio is not only a lovely emerald shade that fits the DS aesthetic, but it features the word “moxie” on the cover—and boy, does Ilsi have a lot of moxie.

Bath Bombs

If your Destiny Seeker fan needs some time away from the rest of the world, then give them the gift of a lovely bath. Don’t make it weird, y’all. I’ve recently gotten into bath bombs and they just make reading a lot more enjoyable! This set is particularly awesome and I’d recommend it to the bookworm that needs a moment to themselves to unwind and dive deep into a good book. You can get them here.

Mermaid Blanket

So maybe your DS fan doesn’t really like baths. It’s totally reasonable, especially if they don’t have much of a bathtub to soak in! You could get them a mermaid blanket* instead! It totally works because there are totally mermaids in this novel. I pulled all the fantasy stops, you see!

I actually have a mermaid blanket at home (not the exact one I’m sharing) and it’s really comfortable when it’s cold outside and I have a long date with a book. Ensure you get a good size depending on your fan’s height.

Woods Scented Candle

It would be a DREAM to have a candle based on Destiny Seeker. Do you know of anyone that would do that? Until then, you’ll have to enjoy this candle via IceyDesigns. Ilsi journeys a lot through the Beast Forest, which is right in the center of the known world. It’s big, imposing, and might smell a lot like this candle. If you want to make your home smell like a mysterious forest full of all kinds of untamed magic, then get this or a similar candle.

Rose Gold Ring

Hello, cosplay ideas! If your favorite fan is so smitten by my novel, then why not get them a rose gold ring or two like the ones in the novel? Ilsi finds some rings that enhance her powers. No, not like LotR but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I was partially inspired by the movies. This particular ring via LeChaim* looks like a feather which is pretty cool. I mean, a feather sort of reminds me of flight and Ilsi can move pretty quickly when the situation calls for it. This isn’t necessarily book-accurate, but you know if you wore this to a future book signing I would definitely cry.

Bow & Arrows Set

Does your DS fan love archery? Do they love it a bit more now that it’s featured in my novel? Again, if they’re in a cosplay mood, they’ll need an archery set. Ilsi is reaching for an arrow right on the cover after all! You can find this costume set* on Amazon as a suggestion. Your DS fan could use it for their Instagram feed or whenever they’re channeling their inner Ilsi. If that seems a bit too much your for DS fan, why not get some earrings via littleglamour*?

I Have Journeyed Farther tee

Okay, so this is technically a tee that pays homage to Moana, but Jordandene knows her craft and I had to share. This quote resonates with the journey of writing this novel but also the journey my characters go through. Like Moana, Ilsi and Reshma leave Ravenna in order to find a way to save it. If the DS fan in your life is all about self-improvement, growth, and all that goes with it, they’ll likely grab onto elements I try to express in the novel. Thus, they’ll likely want to grab onto this tee!

Destiny Seeker: The Messenger

You knew this was coming, right? Mama didn’t raise a fool. Of course, you can never go wrong by getting them a print copy of my book via Amazon! Your fan might’ve taken a leap of faith and bought the Kindle version but now they need the real thing. Thus, a print copy will do.

As a small gift to my fans, I will soon be releasing a second edition of Destiny Seeker that will include a map! I’m sure that’ll send your friend over the moon. I’ll share more updates as I have them, but you can expect it during early 2019. Whether your DS fan would like an original first edition copy or a new-and-improved copy, consider getting them a print copy. After all, you know someone really likes a book when they have multiple copies on hand.

*Note: I haven’t bought anything from this company, so check it out for a reference for what I’m talking about. Be safe while shopping!

Well, as one of the best gifters I know, I think my job here is done. I hope you enjoyed these gift ideas and I hope they help you brighten someone’s day or Bookstagram feed!

Everyone needs a mermaid blanket! I would’ve put the link to mine but they aren’t available anymore. But they’re so warm and cute! Thanks for stopping by as always!

Whitney was great to work with. The whole experience was professional, yet flexible. Helpful, yet kind. My manuscript improved so much through Whitney's guidance that I received my first book deal!
Angelika Offenwanger
Whitney did a copy-edit on my third novel, Checkmate. She was a pleasure to work with, and helped me give my novel that final polish that it needed before publication. Put her on your list for editors that help your work shine!

Whitney McGruder has created a vast and imaginative world in Destiny Seeker with surprises to delight the reader at every turn. Readers can settle in to devour the diverse and ingenious magic Destiny Seeker has to offer. I highly recommend it.

Whitney and I worked together in a writing feedback group some years ago and have remained in touch since then. From the beginning, I was struck by her absolute responsibility as an editor. Even in the capacity of a group member, not even being employed or contracted by me to edit my work, Whitney was unerringly punctual, thorough, and accurate with her feedback. Her advice is genuinely insightful and I believe the marketability of my work was noticeably increased due to her guidance. I so value her skills that I still turn to her as a resource after three years of working with her in-person have passed.

Working with Whitney was a breath of fresh air! I enjoyed every minute of my experience with bringing my book to life! Whitney not only did an exceptional job, she is also a very kind, patient, and I hope to continue to do business in the future!
Brittany Olsen
Whitney helped me with two short projects written for children, and she was very pleasant to work with. She has an eye for detail, helping me with small grammar errors as well as insights about adding scenes that would enhance my story. Her turnaround time was extremely quick, which I really appreciated when on a deadline!

I won a contest via Wit & Travesty in the summer of 2017. The prize was a professional edit of the first 100 pages of a WIP. My middle grade fantasy was only 90 pages, so she read the entire manuscript. She was communicative and positive about the project. Her edits markedly polished up my manuscript and were easy to understand.
