As you can tell by this picture, I have some super amazing news! I’m holding the only print copy of my debut novel, Destiny Seeker! A whopping 587 pages! I just wanted to take a quick moment to explain how I got here and what this means for me and you.
So back in November 2015, I won NaNoWriMo for the third time! It was a great feeling, because the goal of NaNoWriMo was to completely rewrite 30 chapters. Once I did all that work, I was finally finally done with draft 2! One of the prizes was to get a free printed copy of my work through FastPencil. If you’re wondering why I barely got my copy now, blame it on FastPencil. Would not ever recommend using their services unless you like bugging people every other day to get the process going. Basically, imagine trying to buy a shirt online and you had to email them because the page took too long to load after selecting the color, then the size, then the quantity . . .
Anyway, it’s a full-on miracle that I’m able to finally hold a physical copy in my hands! It’s my brain child in the flesh! All these words are mine and I put them there!
So what does that mean? Well, it means that I am now tasked with editing this manuscript until draft 3 is polished and presentable. Currently, I have five dear friends reading digital ARCs and based off what they have to say, I’ll make the last tweaks before soliciting a literary agent. Taking the traditional publishing route is my first choice, and if it doesn’t work out, then I will delve into the self-publishing world.
In a nutshell, I kind of feel like I’m finally halfway there. I don’t have a set day of when my book will be available to the public, but the goal is to have a literary agent by the end of this year. So I have my work cut out for me!
Thanks to everyone who has kept in touch with me about my progress. Keep checking in on the blog or the other fun social media platforms to hear more upcoming news!
Ah! That’s amazing. It looks beautiful. Go Whitney!
Thanks, Hannah! I’m not sure if this is the final cover, but it’s pretty snazzy. Can’t wait for you to read it!
That’s so exciting Whitney, I love the cover! I read some of your little snippets and it seems really good!:)
Thanks! It really means a lot to me! 🙂
