Writing Updates & Goals
So, it probably doesn’t come to a surprise for some of you, but if you’re still catching up, you can now buy DESTINY SEEKER: THE MESSENGER. WOO HOO! Don’t forget to leave a review on Amazon and Goodreads!
I feel a lot better about my book. For a while I was really down and discouraged because I didn’t feel like it was my best work (in terms of proofreading) Now, I’m now choosing to just revel in such a huge accomplishment and look forward to part two. I’ve been adding new content to part two over the month and it has been a BLAST.
In regards to my Goodreads book challenge, I haven’t really done as much reading as I should. I’m actually supposedly 4 books behind! Eeep! I haven’t really had time to read and it’s super hard to force yourself to read just to stay on track. I think I’ll naturally catch up once I finish my current reads and start new ones that are particularly breezy or engaging. Otherwise, I’ll just continue to read at my own pace!
Camp NaNoWriMo Was Fun
I won July CampNaNoWriMo! I scooted over the finish line at the eleventh hour—right on schedule for this writer. I like to keep things easy at 10k. I wanted to use July to start a new project but then I got inspired to write some new content for Destiny Seeker part two. Yay! I really haven’t been this happy while writing for some time. Does that mean I should publish more often?
It feels good to win April’s and July’s challenge. Now I just have to mentally prepare for November.
We Hosted Our First Book Signing
FRIENDS. I had a book signing for Destiny Seeker: The Messenger! Holy heck! So the whole signing was kind of a weird thing because I had very specific ideas of what I wanted or didn’t want, but whenever I had an opportunity to plan activities or promotional content, I just sort of blanked. I felt burnt out from trying to slap together a marketing plan to the point that I didn’t really have a plan for the signing or any marketing decisions beyond this time. It’s something I was meant to do right about now in order to prepare for my initial August 3rd publishing date, which you might’ve caught on that my book was published way early. Thus, I’ve been walking up a down escalator for the past two months.
The event itself was what I needed, though. It was like having a wedding reception, oddly enough: my closest friends and family were there! We had the signing outside so I could sign their books, I had some yummy treats, and I basically had a casual time. Most book signings have a rigid agenda but I was so nervous and anxious that we just pants the whole thing, which pairs rather perfectly with my writing style.
Overall, I learned a ton, felt SO happy, and had a good time. I will want to host more signings in the future, so look out for that, local friends!
I Was Interviewed by Bridgid Gallagher
Ahhh! My first interview as a published author is already here. Bridgid and I have been online blogging/writing friends for a few years now, so it was a huge honor to collaborate with her on this post.
The timing on this post was just insane. It was sandwiched right in the middle of to major emotional meltdowns. Basically between two instances where I read my book reviews and felt really discouraged to put it mildly. Bridgid asked really intelligent questions and I had a great time reflecting on my writing journey, my love for #realtalk on Instagram, and my life as an editor.
You’ll notice that at the end of the post there’s a little incentive code from me, so it’s worth your time to read the interview!
What We Wrote in July
We had some great blog posts for you! To recap, just click on them below:

What’s Coming in August?
Right now, I’m not really sure! I’ve been writing posts as they come to me but I’m not sure blogging—beyond sharing book reviews—will be at the forefront. Each month I hope to take it easy somehow so I don’t feel incredibly burnt out. This blog might be put on hold to do that. I don’t like making promises like that, but you’ll definitely hear about new posts on our social media, our newsletter, or your inbox.
Subscribe to the Wit & Travesty Newsletter
We’d love to invite all of you to subscribe! It’s different from getting emails every time we publish a new blog post. In our newsletter, we’ll share insider information on the publishing process, freebies, editing service discounts, tips, future book sale discounts, and more that you’ll find solely on the newsletter.
