Hey, everyone! Time for another Weekend Writing Warriors snippet. Every Sunday, I join a bunch of writers through a blog hop and post an 8-10 sentence snippet of my current project. You can click on the link to see what everyone else is up to.
Well, it looks like I participated in WeWriWa last week but didn’t actually put my snippet on the webpage for everyone else to view, so if you want to read snippet 43, then do so before enjoying #44!
This week, we’re picking up again from Gilly’s adventure which has landed her in a haven for Animen, people who are cursed/have the ability to transform into other animals. The haven is a place where they can stock up on food and clothing, get shelter, and feel totally understood.
Gilly has brought a large group of Animen that just helped her with her quest to ambush Althod and steal things for Ladala. She’s hoping to rest and get to Ladala’s camp as soon as possible, only to meet another surprise.
“I will only take fifty of you,” she said. “You must be fast and be willing to endure my pace.”
She looked over the crowd and suddenly felt sheepish; most were too busy getting settled and talking to other others that she wondered if they weren’t as drawn to her as she initially thought. Were they even listening?
“You need to give yourself time, girl. Don’t grind your young bones to dust while you have them.”
Gilly arched her neck to look in the crowd and find the person who just spoke, and suddenly caught a glimpse of an older version of herself. The woman was middle-aged but when she grinned, the dimples Gilly loved blossomed. She let everyone else there dissolve in her mind as she ran to embrace the woman.
Sure does make you wonder what’s been happening since they’ve separated. If you’re curious, check out other snippets here. You can also learn more about the novel, Destiny Seeker, here. Don’t forget to comment below if you’ve got a snippet to share as well! Compliments and constructive insight are equally welcome.
