Time for another Weekend Writing Warriors snippet. Every Sunday, I join a bunch of writers through a blog hop and post an 8-sentence snippet of my current project. You can click on the link to see what everyone else is up to.
This post is sort of late for those of you in different time zones, but it’s still Sunday where I’m writing! I hope you enjoy this post. I’m sort of struggling through a transition chapter where the characters make it out of the gnarly Beast Forest alive and towards the town Charcoal Ridge. While it’s not in their plans, they could use a bit of a break from the maddening trees and the creatures that live in them.
“I don’t know her location more than you two, but if you look here, it’s a good starting point. We’re fairly east of where we started in Yling. We’re completely east from that forest, too.”
“Sure, we could all use some rest.” Ilsi sighed.
“It’s like I can taste the air,” Reshma said. “It’s so damp and humid.” She had already taken off her shoes to feel the red clay dirt under her feet.
“Does it feel good to have red feet again?” Ilsi asked, grinning. Tyk looked down and noticed the rim of his boots were already red.
You could say that Reshma feels back in her element, while Ilsi is impatient to meet their next target. Check out other snippets here. And comment below if you’ve got a snippet to share as well!
“It’s like I can taste the air,” Good use of senses to draw in the reader. I feel the characters’ relief reading this snippet. 🙂
