Time for another Weekend Writing Warriors snippet. Every Sunday, I join a bunch of writers through a blog hop and post an 8-10 sentence snippet of my current project. You can click on the link to see what everyone else is up to.
At this point, Ilsi and Reshma are ambushed by the enemies—the Yildirim. In an effort to protect her friends, Ilsi wants Reshma to escape while the attention is turned to Ilsi. Reshma of course stubbornly insists that she stay and protect her friend no matter the cost. These two are at an impass: do you show your love/loyalty by suffering so others don’t, or vow to stay and support them? *Discuss amongst yourselves*
Ilsi’s hands shook mightily as she pried one of the rings from her fingers and dropped it in the sand. The girls clasped each other’s bloody hands.
“If you want to help,” Ilsi said, coughing up blood, “don’t give this to anyone but Ladala.”
“Why give this to me when it’s the only thing that actually burns me?” Reshma said as her eyes flashed.
“Althod will use it like I can,” Ilsi said, groping for fabric on her person to tear and use for her head, “but Ladala will keep them safe.”
“You’re not staying here like you’re implying,” Reshma said. “I won’t let them take you.”
“People are dying because of me,” Ilsi said. “I’ll go with them to give you and Ladala time to recoup. You’ll get me out of there, I know it.”

Let’s hope the Yildirim don’t attack while they’re arguing!
